What was your reason to start the challenge?
This past 18 months has been the hardest of my life, going through an ugly divorce and family court. As much as I've always eaten reasonably well and trained hard, I really lost all motivation and focus to do much of anything this past year. Getting through each day has been enough of a struggle and emotional eating has become a regular occurrence. Now that I'm out of the relationship and that environment, I feel I'm ready to take my life back. This challenge will undoubtedly help me be accountable, build my confidence and show myself that I can look and feel the way I used to. As much as I'm a little scared of taking this 12 week journey, I'm really excited to see what changes I can make both mentally and physically. Bring it on!
What did you like most about the challenge?
I loved how both the diet and exercise program were so easy to follow. There were lots of choices in food and exercises which made the whole experience quite flexible and easy to adhere to! I did the Challenge with two other school mums which was also a great motivator. We would check in with each other regularly to see how we were progressing and help motivate each other. Such a great experience!
What was the hardest thing about your challenge?
The hardest thing about my challenge was trying to stay on track during school holiday period when my son and I were road tripping. During that time, I kept my expectations realistic but still endeavoured to make the best food choices I could and got creative with my training. I felt a huge sense of accomplishment coming home after a week away knowing that I was still on track.
What impact has the challenge had on your life?
The Challenge has really given me my confidence back. In my appearance, of course, but much more than that. I’ve regained my confidence in my ability to be consistent in my training and nutrition. I’m as strong now as I’ve ever been, even at the age of 43! I feel great on so many levels and haven’t felt this way in years. Life has thrown me a lot of curve balls these past couple of years and I’m more confident than ever to take whatever comes at me head on. I’m a strong woman and this Challenge has helped remind me of that.
What would you say to people who are thinking of doing the challenge?
I’d definitely tell them to “GO FOR IT”! It really was a great experience. The Challenge was extremely well laid out so you could see what you were meant to be doing from start to finish. There’s no magic, just consistency and hard work! There’s lots of support if you need it too.
Anything else you would like to tell us about the challenge?
As much as I’m happy that I’ve completed the Challenge, I’m a little sad that it’s over. I’ll definitely be keeping my good habits going now that I’ve hit my stride. I love the way I feel and love the way my clothes fit.
